Rising straight from the Irish Sea, the Mourne Mountains are Ireland’s wildest granite range: jagged summit tors, wild open moorland, hidden valleys, and the legendary Mourne Wall, a century-old stone wall built by hand over fifteen summits. This is the landscape said to have inspired C.S. Lewis’s Narnia. For one weekend in April, it’s yours to race.

New for 2027

Open mountain, no loops

Granite Peaks 100K. A brand-new race for 2027. Essentially one giant loop, entirely on open mountain terrain, with no forest loops.

Granite Peaks 50K. A completely revamped course for 2027: a full mountain ultra that starts at first light and finishes before dark.

Granite Peaks 25K. Our entry distance, on a new course for 2027: a big day out on the open mountain, without the ultra distance.

The Mournes are a compact granite range about 15 miles across, with very little flat ground, which is why the ascent per kilometre is unusually high for these islands.

£5 of every entry goes to Mourne Heritage Trust for upland path repair in the Mournes.

Giving back to the Mournes

The paths that make the Mournes so special to run are fragile. Thousands of boots and running shoes every year, combined with heavy rain on steep granite slopes, wash away the surface and turn narrow tracks into wide, eroded scars.

Why path repair matters

A cup free race.

There are no disposable cups at any aid station or at the finish. Every runner carries a collapsible cup, and it is on the mandatory kit list.

Dropping litter means disqualification. Safety and environment
