Policies

Race rules and penalties

These rules apply to all three races. The race directors’ decision is final.

Look after each other

If another runner is in difficulty, stop and help them. Mountain running is not that important. You will never be penalised for helping a fellow runner, and we will extend your cut-offs for the time you spend helping.

Mandatory kit

Carry every item on the mandatory kit list for your race, for the whole race. Kit checks may take place at registration and on the course. If you don’t have your mandatory kit, you may be refused a start or disqualified.

Follow the course

Follow the GPX route. Short-cutting the course gets a time penalty, set by the race directors. It is served at an aid station, or added to your finish time if it happens late in the race.

No pacers

Running with a pacer is not allowed. Using a pacer means disqualification.

No outside help between crew points

Your crew can only help you at the official crew points (listed on the Routes page). Help from anyone else, anywhere else on the course, is not allowed.

Headphones

Wearing or using headphones or earbuds is not allowed during the race.

Litter

Dropping litter anywhere on the course means disqualification. Carry everything out with you. See our environmental protection policy.

Cut-offs and stopping

If you miss a cut-off, your race ends there. If you stop for any reason, tell a marshal or race control before you leave the course. See our cut-offs and withdrawing policies.

Poles and road crossings

See our hiking poles and road crossings policies.

Instructions

Follow the instructions of the race directors, marshals, first aid and safety teams. They may withdraw you from the race at any time if they believe you can’t continue safely.
